K75 Mystery Spring
« on: September 13, 2015, 10:33:49 PM »
Hello all,

I am reassembling my 1994 bmw k75, and have a spring left over that I just can't remember the purpose of. I don't recall detaching it form anything, it must've come off while I was taking parts out. It's too clean to be a part of the stand, and too small for much else. It's about 2 inches long (see photo.)

While working this time, I took apart everything down to the main seal: the stand, wheel, rear drive, shaft, transmission, battery, battery cage, seat holder, foot plates, and clutch out.

Any guesses as to where it goes? Thanks!

I could  be wrong, but I think it has something to do with the rear brake pedal.  Too late to go out and check my K75 to be absolutely sure.

It looks like the tension springs on the sidestand.  There should be two on there.  Are you missing one?

Well they are stretched quite a bit so I figured it would shrink to about that size when detached?

It looks like the spring hooks around the pedal and holds pedal in up position.   Not sure how it connects behind the foot peg plate.   Odd that it isn't shown on any of the parts diagrams.

One end hooks to an "L" shaped bracket attached to the brake pedal.  The other end hooks on the center stand, on the bar between the two centre stand springs.
