why are this one rear wheel bolt colored
« on: August 29, 2015, 08:39:07 AM »
I had the rear wheel of to do a FD spline lube today. I discovered that one of the wheel bolts are colored.
Is there a reason for just one of the wheel bolts are colored green?

greetings...

the green one goes in the middle hole... looks like you are missing a non painted bolt and the spacer for the center bolt...

The center bolt you find on paralever models, it's not used on monolevers.

If you look around you find a green dot on more bolt heads, whichs says they are checked
with a torque wrench before leaving the assembly line.
It's the same bolts that should be checked at specified intervals according to the maintance schedule.

Thank you for the reply. Can't find any green spots on the other three bolts. Anyhow it doesn't matter since i torqued them to the specified Nm's

You will most likely find the green dots/paint on other bolts around the bike... rear shock mount's, fork triple tree bolts, etc.... you get the idea.
