Sold My K75
« on: June 14, 2015, 08:57:33 AM »
Yo, sadly, I parted with my beloved K75 yesterday....reason...Seat height is such that I no longer feel "safe" enough at stop light, in parking lots, and in slow going seeing as I am pushing 80 years of age...this bike was equal in my affection to my 94 Honda Magna V4 which I am keeping....I may at some point reconsider looking into the low-seat version, but don't know yet.  I have three small cruisers with lower seats.

I  am still  gonna hang out here if it is alright as I identify with this the K bikes and especially the K75 so very much..

Many thanks for the comraderie over time.

That's one thing about many BMW's is the seat height.  Ks, GS's, R1100S, I can't flat foot non of them.  As my knees get worse I see more saddle time on the Ural!  keep riding and stay young!

The low seat on my K100/2 allows me to get both feet flat on the floor, at under 5 feet 10 inches (I'm sure I used to be taller).  The K1100RS I had a few years ago left me stranded when I stopped on a steep camber.  I got off OK, but had to push it across the narrow country road to get back on.  On the centre stand I couldn't reach the floor on one side to push it off, the side stand threw it too far over and with no stands at all I just couldn't reach.  The very smart replacement seat I fitted was definitely taller than the original.

That's strange....I am flat footed on both my R1150R and K75S and I'm only 5'7".

EDIT:  I see you said GSs, I definitely can't flat foot those.   :hide:

     Thanks for your responses.  I'll check for more in a few days...Right now I am about to leave town, not on a  though,  as I am too old for long road trips and it is way too hot, which some like, but not me.  First vacation in three years.  Good wife for 59 years is in the rest home for ten years now and I stay by her side a lot.  But need a break so am gonna pull chocks for a few days.   :yippee:

I put about 50 miles on your old bike Sunday. Had a great time. My cruiser pals accuse me of going over to the "dark side"by riding a BMW. Don't worry, I'll take care of it.

Neat travelling today and ended up in Franklin, NC, in the mountains.  In the quaint  resort town of Waynesville, NC, where I stopped for lunch I saw three cruisers, a trike an a gorgeous Indian full dresser and when I walked by it I could smell the money....All five had Oklahoma license plates on them.  I imagined they had a great time biking all that way to WVille.   I plan to stay her three nights and go back home (in the cage) on Friday...Tomorrow I'll stay in town and then the next two days I'll visit two other towns fairly close.

Nice to get away.
