giganto-tags
« on: June 23, 2011, 05:44:01 PM »
Say what you will about the French, they know how to throw a mass protest (I mean c'mon, the whole guillotine thing was pretty awesome way to get one's point across)...

Anyway, the French government is set to implement a bunch of new rules governing motorcyclists. ABATE thinks helmet laws suck? How about being required to wear reflective vests, and new giganto-tags for the back of the bike to make it easier to read in speed camera pictures.

Surrender monkeys? Hell no - 75,000 riders participated in a coordinated protest, despite rain and hailstorms. That, folks, is dedication.

Some highlights?

Here's one rider's version of the proposed tag:

And the high-viz vest? His reads "Now can you see me better?"

Seriously... Until you get this to start happening:

... riders in the U.S. are gonna continue to be screwed. Check it out... sportbikes, cruisers, tourers... fighting something other than each other.

The french are good at that sort of thing.  I recall a few years ago a heap of farmers protested and among other things dumped a tipper full of Pigsh on the steps of the parliment, apparently it got the message across.
