K75 doesn't like being jerked backwards
« on: May 26, 2015, 12:39:55 AM »
I just recently had my clutch replaced and I've noticed that my K75 has a new behavior. When it is jerked backwards while off it won't turn back on for about a week or two, and then it's like nothing ever happened. I noticed this first when I put it on its center stand to fill up the tires (backward jerking motion) and the second time was when I was pulling it into my driveway (backward jerking motion). What could cause this?

My first thought was worn or dirty starter brushes.  Usually it's the other way.  Bike won't do anything until you bump it backwards.  The next time this happens try tapping the rear of the starter lightly.

Is your headlight off when this happens?

Thanks for the help, I'll check out the starter soon. The headlight is on when it fails to start, not sure if the headlight is on when it is jerked though.

When I had bad starter brushes I found that the headlight would come on but not the running lights. They may flicker also
