K75 non ABS brake bleed
« on: February 28, 2015, 05:24:51 AM »
Hi,
I've bought a 91 K75, and I'm getting it ready to ride.   I've changed the brake fluid today and I have a question:  How far does the front brake lever travel? I expected it to  go rock hard with very little travel, but I can still move the lever almost to the throttle twist.   No sign of air bubbles and I'm wondering if the the master cylinder needs refurbishing.   When I bought the bike I mentioned this to the owner and said it's always been like that. (what else is he going to say :) )

Any advice most welcome.

First things first:  You need to replace the brake lines if it hasn't already been done.  Rubber degrades and brake lines swell when you apply pressure.

It's not impossible that you'd need to replace the seals in the MC also for the same reason.

Once all that's done, careful bleeding should take care of things.
