WTB - Generation 3 Integral Cases - Found 'em!!
« on: February 26, 2015, 03:49:35 PM »
I've just bought a '94 K75S, and it's got some tired old Gen 1 cases on it. I'm keeping an eye on BeemerBoneyard too, looks like Gen 3 cases go for around $200-$250 a pair depending on condition. If anyone here has a decent set of Generation 3 cases, I'd be interested in buying them.

TIA.

There is a BMW marketplace here: http://marketplace.ibmwr.org/ .

Also, if you are a BMW MOA member you can watch this board for bags: http://forums.bmwmoa.org/classifieds.php

Thanks, Rich, I'm watching the MOA Forum and IBMWR also. Appreciate you mentioning it.

I also watch the for-sale threads in two other forums that I frequent, Two Wheeled Texans http://www.twtex.com/forums/ & ADV Rider http://advrider.com/forums/ . A lot of non-BMW stuff, but occasionally I see something useful.

Good luck in your search, I had a set of Gen 3 cases painted to match my bike this month. I love them.

What makes a set Gen III?  I've got a set with the newer latches.

I couldn't provide the key as I need that for the bike but I'm sure you could get a new one or re-key the latches.

From what I've read, Gen II is made with the barrel locks (aka newer latches) facing towards the frame, and Gen III is with the barrel locks facing outward. It may be a little easier to get the key in and out on a Gen III bag, but I'm used to the Gen II layout on my '92 GS bags.

Let me know via PM if you want to sell your bags, maybe we should take the sales-dickering-conversation private.  :yes

Thank you sir!

If you buy the cases, you must have a key in order to get the lock cylinder out in order to rekey it. If you don't get a key, the lock cylinders must already be out of the case in order for you to insert your key into them and grind down the wafers. You should look this thread over to see what I mean: http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,494.msg40457.html
