Brittle and broken fuel pump wire insulation. Anyone seen it?
« on: January 25, 2015, 09:57:21 PM »
So helping a friend with his non starting K75.  Tank full of bad gas and non BMW fuel pump.  Cleaned tank, and etc.  Found the electrical wires to the fuel pump with broken, stripped and what remained of the insulation very brittle and cracking at the touch.

Anyone else experience this?  Very scary to have non insulated power wires in a tank of gas.  Plan to replace with wire rated for being submersible in fuel as regular electrical wire insulation will not work.

Anyone have recommendations on this?

Might not be necessary but I'd replace as much of the fuel delivery system as possible.
