FD leak.
« on: October 03, 2014, 03:54:52 PM »

So riding the alps the bike has developed a vague vibration (maybe 3-4 bpm) which I can only feel occationally. I'm hoping it's just the rear tire which is rather due for replacement. However there's also a visible oil leak from where the FD attaches to the .. "arm" (I forget the right term). I suspect there are small amounts of oil leaking from the FD into the splines area and then flung out there.

But perhaps someone recognize these symptoms as something else, before I climb the Stelvio tomorrow :-)

It doesnt look like the shock to me, alsonits a newish RAM shock that I hope will last me much longer. I looked in the FD and it seemed to be missing a mm or so of oil. Could be the trans too of course, I'll check the level there too.

Anyhow I made it to the destination (and winter storage) in tuscany so it all went well.

FD could be coughing the oil through the breather, and that could cause it to end up on top. Otherwise, it almost has to be the shock.
