Ordering Keys
« on: September 24, 2014, 12:29:21 PM »
I did an edit to my org post about key codes, but I have to ask this ...
Has anybody here, ever ordered keys from their VIN ? And how long did it take. The wait is killing me...
It will be three weeks as of 25 Sep....

I need to do that too. I only have one key.

Quicker option i'm guessing would be to just order a new lock/key from ebay.

Update : My sweet Frau today, by passed Foothills BMW, Lakewood ,CO ( Nothing is their fault ) , called BMW America (?) and talked to them. When ever the set does come from Germany, they will be overnighted.
I guess an old guy in Bavaria goes through a card file for the key code. It takes a bit. Plus it's Octoberfest! So a guy has to understand these things. My first pic here will be opening up the package and posting on the internet.... :yes I hope.
Still going to buy another Key, Ing & cable setup.....now on to the hard bag locks.

Walked into my local dealer they verified the bike was mine (all my keys were copies or worn). Next day they had me a perfect set.

Got home last night from work, the wife said " Here !" Yep two keys from Germany, shipped on Sep 24 2014. They work ! One bend top and one straight one. I have fired up the bike fives times since ! :riding:
Got key codes & bar codes to scan if needed. Have to TI the bike some and then I can ride for the first time, since I trailered this back from Minn over Labor Day. Needs rubber, but its ready to go. I have a lot of reading to catch up on here...maybe I should get two more !  cool shades

Nice, the "baby" is born and all are ok....I always get three keys made at a local locksmith and keep them in a box out in the garage..
Also have a spare key zip tied under the fairing on one of my bikes...
