Removing front wheel on k1100rs
« on: May 08, 2014, 10:40:29 PM »
Getting new tires for my newly acquired k1100rs.  I had a difficult time getting the front calipers off, some could pull the front wheel.  In fact I had to remove one rotor to make it happen.   Any tricks to this?

You have to remove both front calipers to get the wheel off. They are a very tight fit against the rim so I put some tape on the rim to protect it. As you take the calipers off, press them from side to side to retract the pads which will create a bit more of an angle to get the calipers off the rotors.

Personally I waggle the calipers & then remove brake pads as it makes it easy to get calipers past the wheel.
