K75S 1990 - Beach boy thing
« on: February 18, 2014, 08:11:50 PM »
Hi guys!

Like most of people I guess, I’ve discovered this forum while looking for a solution for my lovely brick… I’ve been active for quite a while now on forums dedicated to an other brand (look on the british side…) and I know it’s pretty rude to just register and drawn you guys with questions looking for help… so here is a bit of my project…

2 months ago, I didn’t know BMW had ever produced 3 cylinders, since except for  the GS I ‘ve never been really interested by the german’s production…

And then here we are, found a “cheap” k75S (cheap in australia for a bike is still 3 times the price for the same in europe…) 1 month and a half ago…wanted something easy and relyable for customising a ride that would get me through the traffic in week days so I can go kite-surfing after work …

Now, my idea has been to do a naked version inspired by some nice ones seen on the web (like the Rock 75 from Toygarage.it)… I’ve started to strip it off, and rebuild with my touch…Only cosmetic modifications, the engine runs just great regardless it 135000 ks …
When I said easy to custom, it was until came the moment to think about starting the bike while I got rid of the original speedo/computer …

Here are some pics of my work… the questions will come really soon 

Cheers mates! :2thumbup:

Very cool! What have you done with the back end? I can't see any pillion grab handles?

Also, what cables did you use to allow the use of that custom handlebar? Just the OEM ones or...

I like the look without the K-bike instrument cluster! What are you using for a Speedo?

Hi Jeff,
thanks for your feedback!

I've kept the genuine cables, just changed the way they go underneath the gas tank. For the speedo... Will see... I am after a scare small one, maybe TrailTek endurance II...
For the rear, cut the loop at the level of the shock. Wil get a steel flat welded as soon as i can start the engine... Hopefully this week end.., But busy surfing ...
I got everything from ebay, except handlebar), so I 'm still waiting to receive some parts (rearlight from germany and indicators from hong kong ..)

Nice looking bike you have. I have also k75 '90 and had the similar problems than you. I tried Trailtec as well, but it was really difficult to get it workin properly. I just wonder your exhaust. Would you send me some information. It looks really nice.
