K75 Highway Pegs
« on: May 31, 2011, 09:59:31 PM »
After searching the interwebz and finding nothing aside from crash bar mounted pegs, I had to make something up. Didn’t feel like spending a few hundred on crash bars, and really needed a second leg position for a ride from Nashville to Miami. So I made my own.
Basically I used two 3/8”x12” bolts attached to my engine spoiler bracket.

Notice the top bolt has had a few threads grinded down to keep it from hitting the oil tank fins (for the starboard side).

I heated each bolt with a propane torch until it was hot enough to bend to an angle that made it parallel with the road when attached to the spoiler brackets.
I drilled holes in the spoiler brackets with a bit slightly larger than 3/8” and bolted the new pegs on using two nuts, and lock washers.

After first testing them out I was uncomfortable with how much the brackets flexed over bumps so I fitted some quick supports out of 1/16” cable and cut up pieces of jeans to protect the engine cover (I only had a day’s notice before going to Miami, so I just made something that worked).

And came out with this:

Yea they’re lopsided… but it saved me some cash, and my legs. Just posting to throw some ideas out there for others.

Non motorcycle specific folding pegs can cause sever bodily damage.
