'88 K100RS SE Handlebar wall thickness

Hello Fellow Brickers:

I'm going to order a BarSnake for my K100RS and the site suggests two possible versions, depending on the wall thickness of my handlebars. (backstory: Just got back from 3 days of riding from St. Louis to Hot Springs and back and I still can't feel my fingers. That I can even type this is a miracle). Can anyone tell me the wall thickness of my RS handlebars? (I'm away from home currently and can't measure it myself). If there is no standard wall thickness for RS bars, I'll just measure it when I get home.

I have not. (now I'm trying to picture what the ends of the stock grips look like). If it's relevant, I do have heated grips.

I am replacing my Grips today on my 88 K100lt. Don't know if they have the same bars but can post a few pictures if that will help any...

I went by Bald Knob on Saturday. The roads in the Ozark mountains of AR are amazing.

If you have pics to post, that would be appreciated. I don't do a ton of work myself on my RS because I'm a mechanical moron (thank God for Dave Clark) but I'd like to tackle this small project and learn something in the process. My plan is to add a barsnake (if it'll work), new Progrip 699's, bar backs, bar end cruise control, aftermarket saddle, larger aftermarket windscreen (probably a parabellum), and then upgrade the fork guts and shock. No $$ for a new BMW right now so I'm going to tweak my RS to make it a more palatable tourer for my 49 year old frame. It just turned over 41K miles so it's got lots of life left in it.

If you actually do all that post it up, as I was thinking bar backs would be nice, if I didn't have to get new cables in the process. 

Also I got an Areoflow add on windshield and like it very much.  It cuts out a lot of wind, but does decrease the cooling effect of the wind on you at the same time.

Will do! The bar backs I'm purchasing do require a $30 brake hose but that's not too bad.

some barends screw into a hollow handlebar with a tension device... some barends screw into a solid threaded handlebar end...

if it were me I would check to see if they are hollow...

A riding partner and I went through Bald Knob Friday late morning with some other bikers that we met on the way.
Did a 1 day 309 mile round trip from Memphis to near Heber Springs Ar. and back. Was going to do a ride report but lost all my pictures and video to a bad SD card.  :dunno

Here is what I got as for photos on the handle bars.
1st is the left/clutch side. It has a attached threaded hole inside the bar.
2nd, 3rd & 4th are of the right/throttle sides. I don't know that the tube inside the right side is but is was not connected to anything so I removed it as the new grips & bar weights do not use it.
I was replacing the grips, bar ends and road pegs anyway with new ones.
Will be posting it later on today.

I think the vibration solution is typically fixt by being a chronic techron user + frequent throttle body syncer plus a grip puppy and heavy manic salamander barends user...

combine that with the master yoda riding technique... all is well...

I think bar backs on a rs will be no help...

Interesting prescription for fuel/throttle body TLC. Will that smooth things out a bit?

I was thinking of the Progrip 699's for the grip issue under the assumption that they would offer a better result than the puppies but I haven't tested either option. The Salamanders are new to me so I'll check them out, but I was scoping out the Throttlemeisters. Both appear to have the same thing in mind (bar end weights with the added bene of a cruise control). And the bar backs are for my rapidly aging neck and its annoying tweaky issues. Several 12+ hour rides this summer had me fantasizing about a more upright posture after about hour 6.
