K75s ignition woes
« on: August 30, 2013, 08:44:45 PM »
I have a 91 K75s ABS that I've owned for around a month. Bike run's great and I put around 2000 miles on it in two weeks. Recently the motor would stutter just a tad and then be OK. it got worse until it stranded me, got it home and it fired right, but dies after a minute or two and then won't start. I checked the fuel pump, its OK, replaced the fuel filter and fuel lines, starts up and then dies. I checked for spark and nothing. So I pulled the gas tank, cleaned and dielectric greased all the connections under the tank including the igniter and then the injection box under the seat, and cleaned all the ground connections under the tank also. Put it back together, fired it up and thought cool, it ran for more thatn two minutes. But then it died again, and no spark now.
Any suggestions? I've never owned anything this new.

could be the hall effect sensor, when they go bad they usually fail when heated.  This link may help   http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech/intermittent-cutout.shtml

Thanks! It was the Hall effect sensor and I got another one for free from my buddy that owns a motorcycle junk yard down in Phoenix. I really appreciate your input. :bmwsmile
