Hello everyone. A couple of years ago I started to take a liking to the K100RS SE (blue/white paint scheme). Thought it would be nice to have in the stable in case I ever wanted to do any touring (or at least sport touring). Periodically I will search nationally for a good one and in one of those searches I came across this bike. It's a 1985 K100 Wulf Gerstenmaier Special. In my research pre purchase I found out Wulf Gerstenmaier was a motorcycle racer from Germany who started a company which made special kits for BMW K100's as well as Porsche's. M This is quite possibly the only one in the US. This particular kit was #37 and was bought and put together for BMW dealer in California. If anyone has any information on these bikes (i,e, production #'s, etc.) I would love to hear it. Information is scarce at best.

Sort of a sad story actually about the purchase. As I said I had been searching for a K100RS for a while and came across this bike for sale in California. Talked to the owner for about 30 minutes one Thursday night and he sent me a couple of emails on all he could find out about the bike. Had been thinking about it and two days later Saturday morning I get this email from his email address:

Russell- My husband, *****, passed away yesterday of a heart attack. It was sudden and unexpected, and I'm not exactly together right now. If you are still interested in the K100, his son will be here tomorrow and I can have him help me with the pics if he has time.

Let me know of your interest.

Wow. I emailed her back and said that yes I was still interested but this obviously wasn't the right time and that when it was to let me know. Long story short a couple of weeks later we reached a deal and the bike made it here safe and sound a couple of weeks ago. Replaced all fluids, new pirelli sport demons, battery and front brake switch and she is ready to roll. Still need to do some cleanup on wheels and for some reason they put a Kerker can that was made for a right side exhaust on it. Could use touch up on pinstriping (well could use a full respray but it's not horrible). I'm sure you guys love pics so here you go:

That is an outstanding looking k bike. I ride a 89 k100 se. If you ever get over to the Katy area give me shout. Does not seem to be a lot of us early K bike riders in the area or at least I never see any out on weekend runs. Kenray in Katy.

That's pretty cool. Post up some more pictures of the pegs. Looks like they are back a few inches. I'd like to see how they did the shifter linkage.

So looking at it and comparing to a K1 those pegs look to be in the k1 location just a little different linkage set up.

It has pillion pegs but was the seat ever available for a pillion?

Did this predate the K1 or did the kit come out after the K1?

Predates. From what I was told the kit was installed on a new 1985 K100 in January '86.

loveeeeeeee the wulfs kit on that bike! they are super rare and I would kill to have a Kbike with one on it. preferably in a bright vibrant color: red, orange, yellow, blue. very good find man!

Thanks. Does anyone know if there are any members on the site that have one? Trying to find info on these things is proving difficult. I am with you would like to have it painted in a vibrant scheme. Perhaps something like this:

my bike will soon be orange and matte black. the orange wulf is definitely my favorite! I haven't seen anyone with one on here yet. I was actually looking for a wulfs or pichler last year to try to pick up but gave up because they were too hard to find.

I know I'm digging up a super old thread, but I think I just fell in love with your bike. It's what I wish the RS looked like. Gorgeous and very cool how rare it is.

Super cool would really go down well in Queensland OZ. We can get cheaper Registration about half off for a single seat. But most conversions don't look that good but your bike is a definite exception. Never seen one in OZ.

Just checked the site you referenced (Flyingbrick.de). The home page pays respects to the two developers of the bike, speak of it's radical design and go on to say that the lucky owner of a K-bike owns something both modern and classic - it was so far ahead of its time. And it does say it's not perfect. But another tab on the page called "eine Kurve voraus" (a curve ahead) lists deceased owners of the K-bike.... members of the Flyingbrick.de forum. It is a somewhat somber read. Fortunately, most of the deaths are from disease and not accidents...although there are a couple there. The common thread seems to be their passion both for these machines and for motorcycle riding. Many of the departed were my age (56) or younger.
My point? Appreciate what we have today, go for that ride, preserve the bikes for future owners and, for God's sake, be careful out there!
