K75RT oil site glass
« on: July 02, 2013, 07:53:27 AM »
I am the proud owner of a new (to me) 1993 K75RT. Typical, the oil site glass is discolored and the oil level cannot be seen. There is "stuff" in the way when looking in the fill hole. "HELP"!! What is the secret?

Sounds to me like it's time to replace the sight glass.

Sight Glass replacement instructions are in the liberrey and at IBMWR.org and BMWMOA.org.  Not a big deal but takes a little bit of time a drill, a screw, a replacement glass and some sealant.  About an hour or 2 beer job.  Look it up and knock it out

I did mine in conjunction with an oil and filter change. I used a socket extension through the oil filter hole to push it out from the inside. It required a surprisingly light tap with a small hammer to send it flying.

What a great idea!  I had no idea it was accessible through the oil filter hole.
