Phooey, the dreaded oil drip !!! K1100
« on: June 23, 2013, 10:57:52 AM »
Well, as I was finally getting the front tire replacement, which turned into front brake lines, which required Brake Bleeding...... process buttoned up,  I noticed a Black drip of Oil under the "bell housing".
RATS,..... :dunno.  Looks like the Front is done, and now the Back will be next. When that happens, is the clutch already toast, or can it be saved if not worn to limits?

I have a K75. I dripped for 10k miles before replacing the rear main seal and clutch O-ring.

The job takes a weekend the first time you do it. It's not rocket science but you'll need a few tools you might not have like a clutch centering tool and a big socket and breaker bar for the clutch nut.

It's a good opportunity to see how your clutch works, lube all the splines, and perhaps replace the friction disk. If your shift pedal has play in it you can fix that too while you're in there.

the bugeye motobrick dripped on and off for 60 thousand miles... sometimes it would be a drop... sometimes it would be a spoon... sometimes nothing at all...

so what i did was rolled up an ear plug and slide it on in there... i held it until it expanded... then i rode it like a moe till it blew up...
