Presumably in the motobrick tronic unit. I've never opened mine up - thats why I asked. Maybe in the seat - the pins make the rider go faster?

Would go in the Motronic. It should help performance, depending on where you buy it from. Bumps the timing and fueling. 1100's were dropped to 100 hp by a voluntary limit. I'd probably stay away from ebay sellers on those though. Buy one from a known tuner. Though for thirty bucks, might be worth a try.

When I purchased my 92 K100RS it had a "chip" in it, after about a year I replaced it with the original factory chip and have left the original in ever since. I could not tell a bit of difference between the "chip" and the OEM. Save your money and time just make sure the beast is in as good a tune as you can get it and you should have all the speed you need.

Or go all the way, and megasquirt it!  :curvy-road

The Motronic is pretty tune-able though, and isn't as archaic as the L-Jetronic. The K1100 is also fairly limited in peak power by design and for emissions.

When BMW started making the 4-V engine in 89 they also upgraded to the Motronic, so my 92 4-V has the Motronic and not the L-Jetronic. The US version K100RS 4-V were not imported until July of 1990. And I believe by 1990 the 2-V were done and only 4-V bikes were being imported, but I'm not 100% sure about this.

That is correct. Though the k75 was 2 valve until the end.
