sputtering/missing
« on: May 15, 2013, 12:50:23 PM »
been on my k75 daily for 10 months now and its starting to make those tell tale little wimpers begging for maintenance, problem is, i'm not very experienced (with bikes, but of some use i can tell how long an air cooled vw has been since it had a valve job just by listening to it drive by) and to top it off, I ride daily because its the only way i can afford to get to work on time, otherwise i'd just throw lots of cash at a good local mechanic I trust.

so, this gets better when its warm, particularly at high speed, worst in mid-range, 2nd gear, just a slight miss/hesitation.

wondering if anyone just has that ding, yep thats a fouled plug, nope you need to sync your throttles etc... so i can hone in on the most likely thing it needs with the limited time and money i've got.

Thanks gang

Check the crankcase vent hose - just a bit behind & above the rear end of the fuel rail, a z-shaped thing that vents fumes from the crankcase back into the air intake. They get crusty and cracked, and allow extra air in that makes the bike run dirty. About $15.

Check the plugs as well. If you don't know how old they are, replacing them is a pretty inexpensive proposition and can help if the ones in there are older.
