Gased up my 1995 K75, went for a ride and ran out of gas at 201 miles when I was going up a hill. I thing there was plenty of gas left but I threw in a gallon I had in a container on the back seat. Yes, I was trying to figure out what I could get out of a tankful of gas. Can anyone tell me if that's about normal??

That's close to normal. Since you were on a hill you probably had a little left in the tank but the pump couldn't reach it.

How full do you fill your tank? Be consistent and when you refill your tank you can calculate your bike's MPG.

I get about 48mpg.

Since the pickup is towards the front of the tank, hard acceleration can starve the engine when fuel gets low. (good way to check)  Same thing going up a hill.  My experience has been I might have about 5 miles left if I notice it starving when goosed. This varies because the pick up varies on different bikes.  Mine gets about 48mpg at 65mph, 42 at 75mph, about 40 around town.

I'll go empty at 200 miles on the dot when on the freeways, 230 miles when on back roads under 60 mph. A bottle of Powerade worth of gas will get you about 6 miles further down the road, DAMHIK.

My engine is tired (100k miles, burning more oil than reasonable), so I am getting about 37 mpg. Cruising at 90 last summer, closer to 33 mpg. WOT at redline in 5th: 27 mpg. Hitting fumes at 170 miles or so. Putting a new engine in this summer, will be nice.  :riding: Get to do the break-in as well after de-glazing the cylinders.

one think to remember is the lower you let the tank get the hotter the fuel going through the pump... the hotter the fuel the lower the mileage... butts the most important thing is the hotter the pump the more of a chance it has to fail... i seldom run my motobrick to less than abouts 1 1/2 gallon of fuel in the tank...

My red light goes on at about 150 miles. Usually takes about 3.5 gals, leaving plenty to keep fuel pump wet and happy.

Does anyone know why my gas indicator light start coming on intermitantly at 70miles after filling
up the tank. It then goes off and comes on every so often. Is it an idiosyncrasy of my 95 K75 or does something have to be adjusted?

You're riding too fast on too many long, twisty roads and the fuel is displacing to the sides of the tank causing the level float to drop :)

Seriously though, I was riding in a wind and lightning storm last summer across South Dakota doing 85mph on a mostly straight path for almost two hours. The wind was so strong and constant that the bike was leaning a lot almost the entire time, as if I was in a perpetual corner. My fuel light came on more than 100 miles sooner than it should have.

I have now run a couple tanks through it. Trying to be consistent on filling it to about 1/2-3/4 of an inch below the hole (holding the flap open with the nozzle).

Around town short hopping and working out some issues it had I was hitting 29-30mpg and the light coming on at 100 miles. About 3.5 gallons to fill.

Today's run where I got a good 70miles of hwy in on rolling hills on this tank I averaged 39.5mpg.  Had 125 miles on the tank and it took 3.165 gallons to fill it. Didn't have a light yet. So I'm guessing a mostly hwy running 65-70mph I should see the light about 150mile.

On my 93 K1100LT removed the flap,  my light comes on at around 150miles.  The gauge say's I still have a quarter of a tank left.  I know I am good for another 15miles with some to spare.  If I get a good 100miles and still have a half or so tank left I'm lucky, but not sure what I have done differently to get that.
