greetings midwest motobrickers...

i been rolling out some more alphabet soup roads in central cheezeconsin... one thing ive noticed is i cant keep track of the alphabet soup since the roads have no names... its too confusing for this motobricker...

anyway... there is no way im gonna memorize the ride map for this field meet... i generally memorize the ride map and we roll and roll and roll... butts this deal is too complex...

so i gotts a question... i know a few of you gotts the gps that can get the job done... will you motobrickers with gps load up the two maps and take turns at the point...

its the only way we are gonna ride this route as i see it... which is not my route by the way... it is the aggregate  of a consortium of alphabet soup riders...

anyway... who are the gps volunteers...

here are the maps...

I'm going to try to make it for Sunday's ride.

I've got to work on Wednesday the 10th in Seattle so Thursday is the soonest I can hit the road. Three 700 mile days will get me to Dodgeville on time.

Will plan to head up to Aerostitch in Duluth on Monday for better riding gear. They offer a 10% discount if you buy in the store.

Then probably back west to Salem.

Don't think I can plug a route into my Zumo 220, but if I can I'll be happy to oblige.

I spent hours trying to import the google map route data, but no matter what I tried I couldn't get a direct import into my map program that was useable.

In the end I just recreated the route in my Garmin BaseCamp program point by point(and then some extra shaping points) to get the same exact route that J.O. had posted.

Your mapping program may be more friendly with the Google Map data than what my Garmin program was.

 Sorry. Garmin 2720 on board.
Although I got all the free map updates I failed at up loading those routes JO.

Maybe during the week I'll have some luck.
I'd rather be riding.

Hey there Jimmy, I can send you what I made up if you are interested.
I spent hours trying to export from google maps to import into Basecamp or Mapsource and never got it to work, too many waypoints in the google route.

Familiar with BaseCamp?

I can't figure out how to have the route lines drawn on the roads instead of from point to point...

(FYI - There's a new version of BaseCamp available from just a week ago.)

Tim, when you double click on the route it brings up the route properties page.
At the top right side of the page there will be a drop-down box for the route color, then left of it will be a drop-down list for selecting your type of activity, car, motorcycling, walking, trucking, etc... make sure this box does not say "direct".

I couldn't get it to work and then figured out I needed to connect my GPS first.

Good to hear.
I think if you don't have a working copy of your mapset on your computer, then the program needs the gps to access the map.
I have the maps installed on my computers and I don't have to connect the gps to use Basecamp.
