K100rs to K1100rs, Modernization, and winter project

So I have had My 1985 K100RS for about a year in my ownership and riding it for 2 years. Inherited from the grandpaps when I was learning to ride. she is my first bike. I have been trying to make her somewhat more modernized than the original K100rs I had. She was a Barn sitter for about 20 years until grandpaps picked her up in upstate NY and started the refitting and got her running again.

Here is my list of upgrades to be made or that have been made:

New Bosch remanufactured Fuel Injectors. This was my first upgrade for a boost in torque and power!
replaced all the fuel lines.
Replacing all the worn switch buttons.
K1100rs Fairing to be converted onto my K100RS.
Have the whole fairing repainted Orange with black trim and decals In Progresss!!!
New GSX Katana Mirrors, So they won't fall off. Much improved look over my BMW K100 Mirrors.
New Front blinkers to go where the mirrors used to mount. Ready for after paint install W/ Back LED pair as well
New corbin dual canyon seat.
New spiegler orange SS brake lines, Front and bake. Next winter phase of labor!
Spiegler BMW Rear rotor conversion to semi floating. Next winter phase of labor!
New Daytona handlebars Next winter phase of labor!
All fluids replaced
spline lube on the final drive and clutch side.

Haha too true. all the love to duck for the fishing wire idea to hold the mirrors when they fall off but I still can't see a damn thing from a sideways mirror!  :loco:

Next step Is ordering all my rear end parts and fluids before I get the fairing painted, So I can bolt on and go. plus pictures look better when the bike actually sits up straight Lol
Next is :
Pirelli sport demon rear tire
Spline lube job
New brake pads
SS rear brake lines
New brake fluid W/ flush
Brake bleeding adapters!!!!
and rotors...
Still not exactly sure which rotors to buy.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I like the spieglers for around 240USD,
Something vented and better than OEM for sure.
As you can see, she's already being stripped down.
No bras or panties at the moment  :2thumbup:

Update!!!!!!

Been ordering things left and right! This week I got in:
4 OZ guard dog moly for my splines
Pirelli Rear sport demon to match my front sport demon
2 Sets of 699 Sport grips
A liter of Motul 5.1 DOT 4 Brake fluid
2 K&N Gold Oil filters.

Now to call and order my spiegler parts:
Rear rotor conversion
Rear SS brake line
Rear Carbone loraine brake pads

So I have made it all the way into june and still not finished! mostly was put back because of unexpectedly having to buy a new car in february. tommorrow I will be putting in an order to BMW for the parts I need to finish the repairs/maintenance of the bike as well as what I need for the new fairing and equipment. My corbin seat was delayed as the carbonium siding was on back order and just arrived yesterday. So my seat should be on its way by friday or next friday. I have everything else patiently boxed and waiting on the garage besides the brake lines. Decided I would do all the brake lines this upcoming winter. After the seat arrives and my BMW parts I am ordering All I have to do is put it all together into one smooth bike. then get the new fairing painted.

Got all my Parts from Countryside Beemers and now all I have left to wait for is my corbin seat. Corbin customer rep told me my seat would be shipping out this week. I have to say even though I have waited a while for my custom seat it is totally worth it. Most of the hang-ups have been from the process of manufacturing. back-ordered materials, Manufacture time from it being an older mold as well as my own billing details. I am super impressed with their customer service though! Can't wait to ride. I Haven't ridden nessy since last october. It is really killing me. over the next few weeks I will start the maintenance and teardown of the bike. Probably going to do a little painting of a few minor parts and get My underside cowl ready to be Line-X'd. Anyone know the best way to heal that large crack on the bottom?

I recently have had great success with JB Weld and my fairiing pieces and parts. Also had a compound fracture in my tail piece and mended it back together with the stuff last night. Good Luck!!!

Jb Weld? Really? I figured It wouldn't hold it together as well as a resin, epoxy, or plastifix.

So the seat should be shipping from corbin this week. it is currently in production! cannot wait until It gets here! I am new to projects so I am slowly acquiring tools and such. I really need a worktable. Anywho, I just ordered a rotary tool. a few kits for the bits and some plastifix! I keep hearing about the stuff for molding and repairing motorcycle fairings and tabs. I am going to prep the belly-pan to be sprayed with LINE-X Soon. If I find the work tasteful I might go ahead and start sanding down the rest of the fairing to get ready for painting by a guy I had look at the bike. either way, the bellypan will be the first part done. That way If I want to stall on the full paint makeover until winter then I can ride. I will update on the progress in the next few weeks about the bellypan and a lot of maintenance.

i know a guy who got a new corbin... it was so hard it slowly f ed up his a-hole... they ended up having to sew his a-hole shut...

then they drilled a hole in his taint so he could poo...

the guy has never been the same...

Yeah Yeah Yeah. I know they can take a while to wear in. but anything is better than the stock seat. BTW. It arrived today In all its glory. seeing as I am burned as hell from the first rays I've collected all summer. next week I shall begin all the maintenance and the prep for the bellypan. here is a pick of the design of my new corbin and as well as the colors for the rest of my bike. carbonium. orange. and black.

well the wow factor of my first spline lube has officially peaked. there were leaves... in my clutch housing... and that is when I had to down the last few beers! all in all besides the leaves the job has been pretty good. the splines look good on both sides of the transmission. still a lot of work to be done but the real messy stuff is almost over and then the minor updates and maintenance begin. its been a learning experience for sure. here's the splines. trannys already back on and tomorrow Ill throw the rest of the back end back on and hopefully put the new brake pads on and change some oils.

Im guessing from the original owner having it sitting in a barn for all those years. he must have had the transmission out as well at some point. my corbin is awsome. I am so ready to put it to the test as well as all the other upgrades I am installing/have installed.
I got everything as far as the driveshaft back together, the only snag I've hit is that I had to take apart my rear caliper. I had to clean all the gunk off of it to get the pistons to work properly. Now I have ruined the vacuum seal in the caliper and rear brake system and the "speed bleeders" I bought won't move any fluid!
any suggestions/ideas???

After the rear brake is working I will be installing the rear rim with the new pirelli tire and putting all the body pieces back together. I am hoping to be riding in the next week or two.

What is behind the mirror mount?  Is it rigid enough to stand up to the wind blast the mirrors will see?

its just ABS plastic but it is surprisingly sturdy. specially where I decided to mount them. you do pick up a little vibration at very high speeds but they can take 90+ speeds and not be knocked around on there bearings and/or fall the fuck off. I am enamored with them to be sure!

Cool, just be sure to watch for cracks around the mounting point, you might want to consider a backing plate to help spread out the stress load too ... some guys have done this on the K1200s with pretty good success.

yeah. I thought about some rubber to back the mirrors. Just haven't gotten around to it. the fiberglass in that area is really thick though. I don't think It will be a bother. I get veryyyy little vibration even at high speeds since I bolted them down tight!

FIRST RIDE OF THE YEAR. FIRST RIDE IN A YEAR!!!!!
Finally got the old bird fixed and back together. took my first ride with my new jacket and gear too. great little ride to start the break in of my rear tire, rotor, and brake pads. I am super excited to clean her up and get her all shiny to ride around in the daylight. still black until mid winter then the painting comes!

So my friends...
after a winter season of nastyness and a lot of fiscal ups and downs( as I'm a overworking tech in an ER and a full-time college student) I have started the paint process. I should have started it sooner than the shitty pollen season but I have had lack of time because we have just opened a new hospital that I now work in. its a bit of a clusterfuck. Nessy is now in the hands of a local painter who does some very very sharp restoration and show work. As he preps and paints her I will be working on a few small odds and ends and then a few more when I get her back together. She will be Harley orange with a misting of CBR orange and a few custom decals in vinyl and clear coated. The first decal on the picture below will be right above the light and go across the windscreen and the second decal will be on the tail where it used to say K1100. I am super excited to get her back together and stretch her legs out on some road! Especially with brand new paint, LED blinkers, GREAT mirrors, New tail and tank bag(can't use the tank bag until later summer as I have to allow the Clear coat to sit without creating indentations with the tank bag), and some new gear! I'm going to check at home depot for some ideas on how to insulate certain connection points of the fairing and the bike with rubber gaskets. I want to create a somewhat floating piece out of the front fender using rubber gaskets to reduce stress and perhaps do the same for the new mirrors. give me another two to three weeks and I will be roadworthy and ripping up pavement. Iv'e got some sweet Georgia back-roads to show my friends newly acquainted with two wheels! As you can see below, the bikes K100 Originating pieces actually went through about 4 different colors in its lifetime! all of that is being sanded down and the stress points reinforced. all in prep for the nice custom CBR/harley orange that will make her pop in the sunlight. shes my little jawbreaker to be sure. There was also a small hole in the tank from where the bike had sat for so many years in NY. the hole has been patched and reinforced and coated over as well.
