Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Best place for batteries in Seattle I've found is:

Battery Systems of Seattle
105 S Brandon St  Seattle, WA 98108
(206) 762-5522

I've purchased two car batteries and three motorcycle batteries in the past year from them, PC680 for the K was about $116 if I remember correctly, give or take a dollar and didn't have to wait on shipping. The other batteries were 15-20% less in price for comparable batteries compared to O'reilly's, Autozone, or Napa.

May be a little far south for some to make the savings worth it, but since I'm in that neighborhood regularly not a deal breaker for me.

Thanks Lunchbox !

I read recently that someone had a problem with the 680. "Lawrence" posted this Sept.11 2012

I was a big fan of the Odysse 680 batteries, having owned 3 of them -- then I bought the latest.  It is defective,  will not hold a charge more than a few weeks. Major bummer.  Other such batteries have gone more than one-half year without measurable discharge.  If you buy this battery and have any doubts at all, I'd recommend that you don't wait but immediately contact the seller with your concerns.

Any follow ups on this claim? It would be just my luck to get a lemon battery and burn another relay...

I stand by what I said earlier.  I have bought a few of these batteries, and they vary widely in their ability to hold a charge.  I was reminded of that yesterday.  I hooked up the C-tec charger to my first such purchase and found it didn't need any charge at all.  (I last rode this motorcycle in October). Yet the last one I bought will discharge in a couple of weeks.

There is a battery store here in Seattle that sells them.
Would you recommend that I go with a different battery?
Or are the chances good that I would not get a bad one...
What would you do if you were me?

Ya know, it's something of a dice roll.  The "good" battery is really, really good.  The bad one pisses me off every time I have to hook it to the charger.
If you decide to buy one, check it out thoroughly and quickly.  Any sign of it being a lemon should have you contacting the seller post haste.
I'd buy anther one if I was feeling lucky on a particular day.
Actually, that isn't just an off hand quip.  I aim to replace the flooded cell battery in my K100RS before the riding season gets under way this Spring.  I'm sitting on the fence at the moment.  It'll be a AGM or another Odysse, but I can't say which at the moment.

I have had real good luck with a AGM battery #MS 53030.  It is the glass mat version of the Yuasa 53030 that had been in my bike for years. The thing is huge, will take up your whole battery tray. Bummer it is made in china though. Wanted the Odysse, but nobody had one locally.

I'd get the PC680.

I went to Battery Systems of Seattle and found the PC 680
They wanted over $145.oo for it.
I imagine that the price has gone up, Ya' Think?
No big deal.
I explained that there had been a miscommunication betwenn me and the person who recommended the shop.
I told them that this guy had bought some in the past for $116.oo and that they were online for $98.oo out the door.
I mentioned the MotoBricks website source as well...

They said they would sell it at that price. $116.oo
Good on them, I thought I would just get it online and wait the week.
Anyhow i said I would give the props online and would also like to tell them who gave me the original recommendation.

So Lunchbox, if you would like, I will tell them about you which will probably mean a discount for you in the near future... Waiting on you Bud.

Bohannon Battery has the Odyssey PC 680 battery for $115.41 with free shipping and a two-year replacement warranty. If you can wait for the battery to be shipped to you from Florida:

http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/odyssey/pc680.html

I bought a PC680 from them over a year ago and the price was about the same.

Thanks much for the offer, I'll just mention something next time I'm in buying a battery. They might charge me more, :laugh having steered a customer their way asking for a big discount. (I figure in this economy returning customers at a lower profit margin is way better than no customer.) From my few interactions they certainly know batteries and have done right by three other customers I sent their direction.

(usual disclaimer of I have no affiliation financial or otherwise except for being a satisfied customer :2thumbup:)
