Rode about 70 miles today, mostly at 50mph or more, came home, plugged in Battery Tender, and the light showed steady red, indicating less than 80% charge on the battery. Five hours later when I checked, it was flashing green, indicating 80% or better.
The bike has K-Tail-2 Enhancement kit, Run-N-Lites front and rear, and that's about it as far as I can tell without taking things apart (just got the bike and want to ride before wrenching season starts here in the northeast).
The battery idiot light shows read before starting, and then goes out. Wasn't even glowing during the ride AFAICT.
So, worry soon, or wait to check things during wrenching season? I might do a simple voltage test on the at the battery terminals with the engine running tomorrow if I get time, but there's lots of things other than riding or wrenching I'm committed to for the weekend.
I've got plans to install a headlight relay, check the wiring, and clean and grease all connections over the winter. Half thinking of getting a 50 amp alternator so I and more lights and heated grips, so this maybe a transient issue if Sandy gets to Vermont and shuts things down. (Got room in the garage for the bike, no cars.)
Thanks in advance.
