Motoport v Aerostitch - opinions welcome, especially if experience based.

The last time I rode, my gear kept me from riding as much as I would have liked. I had a less expensive Joe Rocket two piece combination. Got cold, got wet, got hot, wasn't really comfortable to wear, etc.

This time around I'm thinking it might make sense to spend what it takes to get a really functional one-piece. I saw a previous thread on Motoport individual pieces, and a comparison of Aerostitch to a snake's belly in a wagon rut, or some such. Any more detail, especially experiential based, would be most welcome.

I found an Aerostitch Roadcrafter, four years old in my size half way across the country on another board. It's about half the new price.

Any advice welcome.

I have 10,000 miles in all kind of weather wearing an Olympia AST-1 jacket and it's never let me down, especially when combined with a heated vest for riding in the cold. The AST jackets are armored and have a zip-out liner that's pretty warm. The jacket has lots of zippers in front and back that can be opened for warm weather riding.

It's not a 1-piece though. I have the armored BMW Summer pants, and if it's raining I pull waterproof overalls like these over the BMW pants.

I have never owned an Aerostitch, I'm a Motoport guy, but I don't think you'd go wrong with one.  The only consistent complaint I've heard (and seen first hand) about a 'stitch is that they get very hot in hot weather.  It's been referred to as the, "Aerostitch sauna".  That's because the gore-tex liner is an integral part of the suit and cannot be removed like the Motoport.

I'm not sure I'd get a used one but they have a very good reputation as being a quality product.

I really like my Motoport pants. They're cool when it's hot and warm when it's cool. Totally waterproof with the liner in. Beautifully made. (Don't know about their jackets, I have a BMW Airshell.)
