GROUP BUY - RUSSELL DAY LONG
« on: October 06, 2012, 01:57:56 PM »
If you are interested in joining the list for the Russell Group Buy go to this link to a group buy for Russell Day Long Saddles    http://www.vulcanbagger.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30504

I'm signed up at #99 of 125  Seems you can get on the list and decide later if you don't want to buy.  According to the post, the discount is about 20% and the seat is made over the winter.

I did a group buy a few years ago for mine ... best purchase for a bike I have ever made.  But be warned, even at a 20% discount, my seat still cost $650.  Not cheap, but worth every penny.  Will never own a bike without one.  :2thumbup:

Update: Between 11/26 and 11/30 Russell is taking orders for this 20% off group buy on a first-come, first-served basis regardless if you signed up on any list or not.

For a solo(rider portion only and rear recovered like the factory seat was) K bike seat custom made-to-order in all vinyl seat the price is $336 plus shipping. (You need to send them a seat pan.)

Here's the email I got today from the guy who organized this group buy over at the Vulcan Bagger forum:

Quote
All:

If you are receiving this email, you are one of the members of the 2013 RDL group buy list. If you have been following the thread on the Vulcan Bagger Forum, you are aware that RDL began taking orders for the 2013 group buy today, November 26, 2012.

If you have not been following the thread, here is the information you need to know in order to have a chance at successfully ordering a Russell Day Long seat at the offered 20% discount.

This year there are a couple of alterations as to how RDL has done group buys in the past. RDL will honor the group buy effort, but will not restrict themselves to following the group buy list's order.

Basically what this means is... the fact that you are number two on the group buy list means nothing as to how your order will be received and processed by RDL.

Here is the direction given by RDL:
RDL will process orders in the order the company receives them.
Orders must be placed on-line or by fax (fax number is 530-275-5465) between November 26, 2012 and November 30, 2012. Orders will be accepted between those dates only. No phone orders will be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS! Orders dated before or after those dates will not be accepted for the group buy. NO EXCEPTIONS!
The group buy is open to all makes and models of motorcycles, but will be limited to the first 125 orders received. Only new seat orders will apply, no rebuilds or recovers will be accepted. ONLY ONE ORDER PER CUSTOMER WILL BE ALLOWED! NO RIDE IN APPOINTMENTS ALLOWED!
You must specify on the order where it says production date, "GROUP BUY 2013". Orders without this will not be scheduled under the group buy. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Production dates will be scheduled in December and January only. NO EXCEPTIONS OR RESCHEDULING! Dates will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis and you will be notified by email of your scheduled date for the "Group Buy 2013" once the order is received.
Discount for the group buy is 20% off the seat order. DOES NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING!
You must send RDL your stock seat for the new build by your scheduled production date. RDL does not have seat pans available.
Well... there you go. I want to thank everyone for their patience as we worked through this process.

In closing, I want to remind each of you that your position on the group buy list does not guarantee that you will be receiving the group buy discount. The first 125 group buy orders will be determined by the order they are received, NOT YOUR POSITION ON THE LIST. I just want to make that that very clear, so there’s no misunderstanding.

In the past, RDL has had less than 70% of people that are on the group buy lists actually go through with ordering a seat. The people on the list that are past the 125 cut-off do not bother to order a seat because they felt they missed out on the group buy. This is why RDL decided not to follow the list order, but take the first 125 orders that come in. This was their condition for accepting our group buy.

Again... someone that is number 1 on the list and submits their order after RDL has received 125 orders will not get the discount, where someone that is number 164 on the list and submits their order in the first 125 RDL receives will get the discount.

Do not procrastinate. Get your orders in as soon as possible to give yourself the best chance of getting this great discount.

Good Luck!

PS: Please don't email me with questions. Go to the Vulcan Bagger Forum and submit any questions you may have on the forum and I will try to answer them. This is my work email and I’m using it because it is the only medium I have for emailing this number of people.

Just placed my order and there were still some spots left.  Don't wait or you'll miss out on 20% off

And if anyone is having both front and rear K seat done then I have a spare seat pan for $50 plus what it costs me to ship it to Russell for you. (Which will be little because they're pretty close to me and this seat pan doesn't have any cover/foam.)

It needs to be both a front and rear job because this pan is missing a bunch of the rear foam.  If you're just getting the rider portion done then they leave the rear with factory foam.

Got my seat late February but haven't had a chance to break it in yet.  I can tell just from sitting on it for about a half hour that it is going to feel really good for the ride to Salem OR in July.
