Bar Risers? riding position K1100rs
« on: September 19, 2012, 11:32:33 PM »
It doesnt seem like an unreasonable question? looks  like a 7/8 mount. Ive done every service I can think of, the bike has 22k on the clock, Except the splines. And is mint. Im 6' 4" and wish I was 5' 8" any thoughts? Or perhaps Im a dumbass. A more rigid feel on the bars and taller would enhance how I ride.

Lots of folks use risers and offset risers that move the bars up and back. I actually find my K1100RS more comfortable now that I have bent my bones to fit the bike. I'm 6' and 51 so bones bend slowly. Do the splines... She will love you more, and be faithful.

I asked the same question about my '94 K1100RS and was directed to this nifty little note: http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,3010.0.html

I'm still trying to find a comfortable spot and I'm only 5'11". I came off a dual sport so I have to constantly remind myself to take the weight off my hands.

If you haven't already, post a picture of your bike. That green is awesome!

I'm only 6', but I actually took the risers off of my 94 RS.  Between that, the "washer mod" and new rubber handlebar bushings to firm up the front end, I now feel like I have a much better riding position and a greater feel for the handling of the bike with a negligible increase in vibration.  I felt the risers combined with the mushy bar feel was just way too much for me.

I'm 6-2.  I've tried barbacks and C bars.  Neither lasted more than a day.  The reason, at least for me, is that they didn't  let me get my torso in over the bike and to the side for more "spirited" riding through twisties.

One thing free to try is rotating the handlebars in the clamps and rotating the perches on the handlebars to  get things dialed in for your personal ergos.

Alot of very good information. Just what I was lookin for, Mabye I should have looked before I leaped. thank you. The 1995 K1100RS is alot more bike than what I have been riding most of my life. Big bore 2 strokes on a dirt track.....lol Or trying to avoid hitting trees in the woods on my dualsports. The bar mounts are a standard config. setup which I moved foward (alot ) and it really made a difference. I want to machine some different mounts with poly bushings just for fun. The Master Yoda riding position makes alot of sense. Bending your bones to fit the bike is true. The K1100RS is beautiful machine, I cant stop riding it , or thinking about it. I guess Ill give up my baja dreams and focus on my moto GP dreams?   :loco:

It is a 90s sport-touring bike. Not designed or built for either. /reality

There is a turbo kit available from some outfit. It could boost power to over 250hp. I noticed my bike woke up with a new front tire (Metzler Z6)

A few years ago, I had the chance to ride a little 600 w/turbo. Something called a XN85. One of the first Jap bikes with a 16 inch front wheel.  Quick!

Looks kinda like our K bikes.

As it turns out, I am a dumbass ! minor adjustments of bars and controls is more than adequate for comfort and control. Retraining my form and and function has proved very rewarding!!! In the last 800 or so miles since my original post, I have gained way more love for the 95 k1100 rs. What a machine!!!!!
