Lubing the side stand pivot on an early 2V K bike
« on: September 11, 2012, 03:52:06 PM »
Later K bikes (not sure what year the change was made) have a collar with a Zerk fitting to lube the side stand pivot.  The early ones just have a hole to push grease through.

Although the link below is for different parts on earlier R bikes, apparently it will also work on early K side stands.

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

This small $6 Harbor Freight grease gun works perfectly right out of the box for lubing the center stands without Zerk fittings.

(Grease sold separately.)

Some fool stole my grease gun from my driveway. Went to HF today to replace it and the item is discontinued :(

Found something similar on Amazon.

This might be cool too. And it's smaller and cheaper.

I opted for the "deluxe" $11 model Oregon Chain Saw Premium Grease Gun 40469-A.

Good build quality. Works great, better than the HF mini grease gun. Comes preloaded with enough grease for about 1000 center stand lubes.
