It was replaced with a unit made by Progressive Suspension.  I'm happy with it.  It isn't Ohlins, but I'm a man of modest means.    cool shades

Is the 85 different from a 1990? I know the cams are and thought the suspension was the long soft kind...

I'm not the man to answer this question, as this 1985 K100RS is my very first flying brick.

85 final drives have a 16 spline input shaft.  86+ have 20 splines.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

All the K100 8V are the same length and the same as K75. They change with the change to the 16V engine and paralever rear suspension and remain the same right through to the end of production of the K1100 RS and LT.  14in and 15in respectively.

I thought the K75S had a shorter rear shock. Am I wrong on that?  It won't be the first time.

No, all K100 up till the introduction of the 16V engine were the 14in shock and all the K75 right to the end had the same unit.
The only change was the introduction of the nivomat air shock on the K100LT around 1988 - 89.

Lawrence - I've thought about getting a progrssive unit for my '85. Which model did you get and are you happy with it?

I have the basic one without the remote reservoir.  I think the model # is 465 (?).  In the one year I've had it it has performed well and I would certainly buy another.
