They have some crazy rules there. I was going to move there but couldn't bring my 2007 Gs as it didn't
have 7500 miles one it...Weird. And you have to pay to register a car that's not on the road...

Crazy rules? No,never. Not in California.
To give you an idea about how crazy it is, we have a law here that states that if you rent your home or apartment, you MUST have current tags on your vehicle. If you do not, there is a 75 dollar fine. Get this, Brickheads, the fine goes to your landlord! So,if you are restoring an old car (or bike) and want to follow the law, you get to pay yearly fees to the Department of Motor Vehicles even if the vehicle is not on the road! If that is not bad enough, the DMV will let you pay the fees but not give you the tags if you do not have proof of insurance. I was told by a LEO that this craziness is part of a law that was passed to help fight gang violence.

Welcome to California.

The fact the the nanny-state of CA allows something supposedly as "dangerous" as lanesplitting is, in and of itself, pretty amazing.

(Not that I'm complaining. I LOVE lanesplitting.)

I have been told that Ca. allows lanesplitting so that the motorcops can do it.

Maybe its absence allows for out-of-state vehicles with non-compliant lighting to use the roads in California.  That way visitors won't be ticketed for breaking a CA law.   Just taking a guess...

I thought they were going out of business. 30 billion in the hole or something?
I think they spend too much money on cancer research. Everything has a sticker
on it saying "Know to the state of California to cause cancer"

My wife works for the state and she just had to take a pay cut so that the idiots in Sacramento can balance the state's budget. BUT, THEY HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR A BULLET TRAIN THAT NOBODY WILL USE!   Only in the Peoples Republic of California.

Don't get me started. I get pissed when I start talking about this sort of crap.

On a different note, recently, my teenage daughter had her first experience with the Dept. of Motor Vehicles. After standing in line for almost two hours, she turned to me and said, "I now understand why people hate the DMV."  To make it worse, when her ID came in the mail, they had misspelled her name LOL.

That's silly, cops do what they want to period.

There are NO rules per say.

Lady down the street got hit by a patrol car that did NOT obey a stop sign. What a cluster fu*K "insurance wise" to get her car fixed. Worse NO lights or siren on, simply blew thru it, hence the accident.

Mystic,

Did calling the LEO's  boss do any good?

I actually stopped by and asked to talk to the Chief so I wouldn't get stopped again. He agreed that they had better things to do after I pointed out that virtually every HD has 3 lights and I doubted the court system would call my Catz headlights.

Its for emission laws. Fair enough, in response to LA smog.

Was hard to get Royal Enfields in CA. One of the local moto-cops was chatting with me when he saw the bike after responding to a call up the street. He was saying his friends used to just get a used speedo.

Well I can understand if it was say older than 1996 or something or subject to
a smog check and low miles indicates it's not used much. I was out in LaLa land
a short while ago and the smog problem is defiantly better.

The DMV is getting better here too. Reregister's can just mail it in so less people
waiting around at the DMV.

The smog is better than it was a few decades ago but it still varies a lot depending upon how much wind there is.  If LA has calm weather for several days then a nice haze develops over the city.

I always liked Jethro's idea of cutting huge tunnels in the mountains and putting big fans in them.  :laugh

Maybe it is so that people will buy a vehicle here in California and not drive to Reno or someplace else a get one for less money. Or a way to force people to purchase Ca. smog compliant cars. I don't know. Crazy!

Hi, anyone here running those?

I've always had them on my cars and am always disappointed by any other type of headlights no matter the bulb, plus they draw considerably less current (35w) than a reg. 60/55w bulb.

Anything I should know before I order a kit?

Thanks!

I'm in the search of a kit too,  :hmm: and i came cross this site,    cool shades
http://retro-solutions.net/product-info.php?55W_DIGITAL_MOTORCYCLE_HID_KIT-pid747.html
from what i read in other forums too, they offer quality and most important the offer the "cap" in the tip of the bulb (extra) if your headlight do not have one build in, that will not blind other drivers..as well a relayed harness, but are more expensive than any others. do a bit more research and when you decide, let us know results, i will do too. good luck.  :2thumbup:

PS almost forgot. i will go with the 55W and 6k color have it in my Harley and have more light than i can ask and people SEE me.
