Warning light
« on: June 02, 2012, 04:11:07 AM »
I was on the motorway the other night and as it was empty for once I opened up the K75 to see what it would do. As I got to the last 10% of the throttle opening it would not pull anymore in fact it slowed down. I released the throttle to about 75% and it picked up again. I rode at highish speed for about 10 miles over the 70 limit and all of a sudden the temp light flicked on. Thought Id killed it. Slowed down to about 75 light went off and it picked up again. Rode the rest of the way at a steady 80 no problems. Did 6 miles off motorway on back roads loads ot slow bends and gear changes no problems.
Got home and the next day checked oil and coolant levels both fine. No obstructions to the radsn ran it up and the cooling fan kicked in. Dont know confused. Only done it once at high speed but a bit worried aboutvthe last bit of throttle movement as going to europe in sept and will have to use some of the autobahn in germany and it can be really fast

Sounds like it might be more than a bit lean. Check the throttle body rubbers (top and bottom) for leaks, also the engine breather for cracks and anything from the air filter to engine. You can use a propane torch (not lighted) to check for leaks. The propane will be sucked into the leaks and the engine will change its tune like running smoother.
Consider yourself fortunate you didn't do any damage like a holed piston by running it hard and lean.

Looks like a cracked breather hose letting in too much air. Managed to cut the top bit off the pipe. To be fair it was cracked nearly all way round and reconnect it. Started engine it seemed a bit smoother not so lumpy on tickover hose did not seem to leak no bubbels from water i put on outside of hoses. Will order a new next week  as big holiday in uk queens jubilee and all that. Going for a long ride out on monday will take mobile and breakdown card just in case.
