Best way to remove roundels?
« on: April 23, 2012, 05:45:06 PM »
Got some new roundels for the tank...
Is there an approved way to remove the old ones without messing up the tank?

One of mine fell off while riding through a downpour in West Virginia.

Your results may vary, tho.

I just peel them off.  Then I use a nylon tool to get rid of the residue left on the tank.  Then I clean it the indentation with rubbing alcohol so it's good and clean so that the adhesive on the new roundel will adhere well.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

A few years back I invested a whole $10 on a heat gun (there was a 70% discount) and it has proven to be a valuable investment. Basically, the heat gun is a hair dryer on Viagara or Cialis and works wonders for removing those darn dealer logos on vehicles and many many other applications, e.g. hockey blades on two-piece sticks, BMW decals, etc...

If I remember, I bought two and gave one to my father on Father's Day.
