Quick headlight question

I have an 86' K100RS, when I got home tonight my wife informed me of how bright my headlight was.  I agreed with her, it is bright.  I had the switch in the "up" position, or the high beam.  When I put it in the middle position, low beam, I only get one small light illuminate above the headlight.  Is this normal?  I figured there would be a little more light from the low beam.

Sounds like the low beam filament is broken - just pull the globe and check it.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know any better since it's been like that since I first got it.  I'll be picking up some silverstars when I get the chance.
