Fuel Pump goo......how to remove?

The fuel pump vibration damper in my k75 has returned to an earlier state of oneness with the cosmos...but now have black sticky icky crapy goo everywhere.  In the tank.  On the tank.  Hands.  Tools.  Gloves.  Garage door knob.  Keyboard.

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning this up? 

I'm hoping the supporting ring is reusable.

You might have some luck with "Goo Gone," generally sold at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. I haven't used that myself, but have heard good things. Otherwise I would try degreaser or solvent of some kind.

go to any auto supply store and ask for prep sol or wax and grease remover that you use to to prep a surface before paint. The best stuff goin for the gooy stuff. You probably will not be able to re use the gooy thing. Wrap a piece of fuel hose around it with a wrap tie and call it good. Worked for me.

Thanks conybeare and jeffhestand!  The goof off does work, much to my surprise.  I've also found that isopropyl alcohol works and is good for getting the goo off of skin.  But I'm going to check the prep sol.  What a mess!

Jeff, did you eliminate the vibration damper and support ring and just do a friction fit?

basically a gravity fit. The plastic ring is still there but the aftermarket pump i got just sets in there with the help of a chunck of fuel hose wrap tied around it. It works. I dont plan of doing any road racing anytime soon so it should be fine.
