making k100 fit me.
« on: April 08, 2012, 04:32:35 PM »
I would like to find out how to adjust the brake lever and the rear brake to fit me. I am sure you can move the front lever up a bit just not sure which fastners to loosen. The rear brake pedal is a little harder to figure out. I would like to bring it down given that i have knee problems. Any help appreciated.

Depending upon the year of your bike (hint: please add your year and model in your signature) some of the later bikes had a small set screw in the front brake that allowed some minor adjustment but the resting place of it pretty much is what it is.

Aside from bending it (which I don't advise since the alloy might break) I suppose you could loosen the adjustment on it and maybe weld a little something to the spot where it hits the brake switch.  However, if you do that and end up having the rear brake too tight then the piston in the master cylinder can get caught on the set screw that retains it and lock up the rear brake - not enough to lock the rear tire but enough so that your brakes get stuck and remain applied and it will heat up your rear rotor darned quickly if you continue to ride on it that way..

i may not have made myself clear. I just want to move the whole pod up so that the brake lever is more level and i am not having to reach down to apply brake. Also.... any other ideas on rear brake adjustment. Also.. thanks ill add bike to signature. I also need to throw some pics on of the bike in rough shape.

What's a pod?  Do you mean the peg plate assembly?
