Iphone case
« on: February 17, 2012, 11:19:09 PM »
Ha, upgrade time for a new Iphone on the slate this afternoon.

Zero cost, what the hell, perk from the wife's employer.

Anyway, advice on a protective case ?   How about the Otter Box ?   Considering the Defender model.

Suggestions for a bullet proof case other than Otter ?

thanks bricKhead's.

I have an Otterbox for my cell phone. I like it. I think the ones that they make for the iPhone are some of the best that Otterbox make. I have also seen some iPhone "milspec" cases at gun shows that put Otterbox to shame.

Let me know what you end up with. I have been considering an iPhone myself.

Otterbox Universal Commuter Case, with the Zagg Shield --best combination of protection with the least amount of bulk.

You must referring to the Griffin Survivor case. Strange, numerous reviews bitched about the "cheep HF" clip that breaks.

dunno, my old Iphone survived thru hell bareback. My main concern during a dual-sport saga is damage rendering it inoperable. Surprise, the "replacement insurance" was reasonably priced.

I like the Otter brand, buddy's Iphone survived a dunk in Pine creek in a Defender case kayaking last Spring, impressive. Thanks, I'll check out the Zagg today.

:hmm:  check out the Gunner case ______________________.

http://www.baseonelabs.com/collections/products/products/gunner

The GunnerCase is the newest protective case by baseonelabs. It's design was inspired by recoil pads found on shotguns. When GunnerCase is dropped, the sidewalls are designed to collapse and distribute the force around the case. This saves your iPhone while keeping the case thin and effective.

Internal Air Cells - Lined throughout the inside of the GunnerCase are Air Cell pockets that were inspired by recoil pads found on shotguns and rifles. When dropped, the Air Cells collapse absorbing impacts, providing the same protection as a case twice as thick.

PATENT PENDING:

Buy now and save later - All pre orders will receive a special coupon to get a discount on the iPhone 5 GunnerCase when released.

Slim Design - The GunnerCase is only 13.9mm thick which makes it one of the thinnest protective cases available.

Precision Cut Buttons - The GunnerCase has precision cut buttons that cover your iPhones buttons and provides a great force feedback.

Anti-Lint Material - The main problem with other cases is that they attract lint. The GunnerCase is made out of a material that repels lint.

Complete Protection System - Every GunnerCase is sent complete with a screen protector kit and micro cleaning cloth.

GunnerCase is made out of a special TPU material that has the perfect hardness to feel like a rigid case but will absorb impacts like a soft case.

Comes with a lifetime warranty against anything.

Will fit in the Elevation Dock

Dimensions - 121.5 mm x 65mm  x 13.9 mm

That Gunner case looks nice if you need that much protection, it would be nice to see one up close.  I wouldn't mind spending on something that actually functions well and is nicely made.

I use one of the thin silicone covers that has done ok with minor drops and such. I don't expect it (the one I have) to protect against major hits though.
It's kind of a pain too, it doesn't slide into your pocket smoothly, and while it doesn't exactly attract lint, it always has a sort of cruddy look. Plus it's really annoying that they charge 20 bucks for about 15 cents worth of haphazardly molded RTV and call it a good value.
