Brick riders in Chicago?
« on: February 07, 2012, 11:44:51 PM »
Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone else on this site is in the Chicagoland area. I'm stuck in this flat, curve-less, motorcyclist's desert for 3 more years until I finish school. Oddly enough, none of my classmates share my love of K bikes...

Let's take advantage of global warming and go for a February ride on the next 45 degree day!

I just got a 86 k75 and so just joined the forum. It's non-running so far, but hopefully when i get the injectors back in after cleaning it will be a different story.

I'm definitely up for meeting more K owners here in Chicago and hopefully soon i'll be up for some rides too.

I'm on the northside, in Andersonville.

Well the last time I actually rode was.........well the tag expired MAR 94.

I have decided to get her back up and going, but don't have a strong desire to ride the Chicago area. I'm the original owner. Got the 1st K sold in New York state. The dealer wouldn't even let me have her til he had a confirmation that the next one was shipped. It was supposed to be a demo. It 3 miles on the odometer.

I've had her in 36 states and Canada.

Looking forward to doing the work myself. Up to this point all the maintenance was done professionally. I worked on Porsche and BMW automobiles in 1982 learning from a guy who was starting out on his own and now owns a successful Porsche Racing Team. I'm more looking to scratch the itch for turning wrenches than riding locally at this point in time. The 12/24K maintenance kit and manual are scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

This site looks like a great resource and a fun place to visit.

The weather this year might have something to do with it.

Fella's, just pulled my first BMW motorcycle in the garage. 1988 K-75S Marakesch Red. Got a few minor odds and ends to tighten up and change fluids, then its time to twist.
I live down in Will County (South of I-80 west of I-57) I 2 kids, wifes  and jobs so it is hard to get out but PM me if in the area and want to ride. I will do my best!
Love this forum. After I got the bike, I was worried about a few simptoms, Cold starts etc. I read the Front Porch K bikes for beginners and all my concerns went away. :2thumbup:
I'll let you know how it goes.
Later,
minus
I came to get down.

Carol Stream...(western burbs, DuPage county)...'95 K11RS...

If you want decent roads, SW Wisconsin or Southern Indiana are the closest, decent riding areas...

I'm out of town returning on 6/30, but I'm down for the other dates.
I'd rather be riding.

Oh, and Minus Juan,

my in-laws are down in Dwight and I intend to ride down there at some point this summer. I'll try to remember to give you a PM when that happens.

Healthy,
Funny you would say that about Dwight. I was just West of there in Blackstone yesterday for a work related function, AND my wifes Grandmother still lives in town there. Pretty random world. I took the K-75 down and put on 275 yesterday. Can't believe how much that these bikes love to click off the miles. I still have the temp plate on and have a couple thousand on already. I think i'm addicted and I'm even thinking about the next one. Maybe an 1100RS  :dunno2:
I came to get down.
