"lit up"
« on: February 02, 2012, 08:03:45 PM »
Yes-siree, the good DRxBMW was on a roll this afternoon.

Picked up a LED stop/brake light at the I 80 truck stop for $12.00.

Oval, 10-diode LED stop, turn and tail light ideal for both over 80" and under 80" applications
Hard-wired design eliminates the need for separate plug and reduces connection points
Operates from 9-32 volts; regulated design provides voltage protection and consistent light output over entire voltage range
Meets FMVSS 108 requirements in horizontal, vertical or any 360 degree position

Peterson brand, damn thing fits perfect underneath my license plate on the GS. Or on the tail section of a K bike unless your a roundel freak. LOL Totally waterproof, 1/4 inch thickness, looks almost factory.

Anyway, simply drilled a hole for the wires so the light would rest flat, crimped on some spade terminals, tapped into the hot brake switch wire, switched power for + and BINGO, were all "lit up" literally speaking. Ended up using Industrial strength Velcro for attachment, worked like a charm even in the severe bump testing scenario.

Runs 1/2 draw for run, full for brake. BRIGHT, I was very pleased with the total outcome. Plus it was CHEAP compared to pricey hyper lights,Ad more or other MC specific units.

I'll snap some on the bike pics Friday.

Brand and dimensions?

Peterson is the brand name.

Gleaned from the clearance bin.  Cool the way they have built in voltage load resistors and are visible from a angle.
