New forum member tryin to help a brother out
« on: March 17, 2026, 12:03:08 PM »
Hello all. new member trying to help get a buddies old K100RS running after several other wrenches tried and threw in the towel. I will be making a thread after I reassemble all the electronics and plugs that are dangling. I know less than nothing about these bikes but Im gonna give it a go. Hope to use the reference material I see here and the knowledge base to learn this bike to SPARK again.
See you soon in a thread.

Welcome to the scrum, Aubs! Put the last seven digits of the Brick's serial number in this checker and let's determine what he's got.

K100RS production date 07/1990

I am just inspecting and familiarizing myself with it right now, gotta put some connectors back together and give it voltage to get a baseline on it. I did find the service manual download and the tech downloads for motronic and such. I have a lot to learn about this one.

Welcome!  It will help a lot if you can post the VIN of the bike.  The reason is that it could be either a two valve model or a four valve model and there are a lot of major differences between the two models that will affect the troubleshooting.

Should be  nice project while you wait for nice riding weather.

I believe it is a four valve?..  I should check if the service manual I downloaded applies. Pics coming when I get the forum on my phone...

It is a 4-Valve and there is a manual on the site labeled  BMW K1 K100 4 Valve that you can download, if you haven't already.
