Can clutch be improved?>
« on: November 17, 2025, 03:27:10 PM »
I bought a '93 K75s, with 90k miles. It's my first K75s.
The clutch is stiff. Tbh, I think it's the nature of the beast, BUT -- is there something I can do to lighten up, with a bit more play?

I did a search but found some info, but, specifically, what can I do?

The bike is fabulous!

It's a mechanical. not hydraulic, clutch and the stiffness is caused by the diaphragm spring that controls it. There's not much you can do about that.

Make sure that both ends of the clutch cable are well lubed and that it is adjusted properly.

Ok soooo I recently had the misfortune of having to replace 3 clutch cables. One replacement was old stock BMW. One was Venhill featherlite. Both of these new cables were fine if not a little stiff due to being new and possible having a break in period…I was in a rush on the recent one so I purchased a cable from EBay. Came in a day or two $29. OMG! Smooth as silk. I did spray some silicone lubricant on cable and exercised it prior to installation. Motoonline is company name,  part is made in Turkey.

Hahahah that was on point

Also you could go hydraulic atabeach, but that could buy you 5 ebay cables, or 3 when you buy the exercise device and lubricant for the cable.
Also cleaning the lever that pushes in the rod could help, maybe a new spring and ofcourse more lubricant
