k75 crash bars set/kit
« on: October 14, 2024, 01:57:36 PM »
Hi Guys
I have just acquired cheaply a set of k75rt crash bars. the kit seems to fit and came with ALMOST all of the mounting materials. ALMOST - I am missing the TOP parts that come at the top engine mount.
from my memory that would be a M8/M10 silentblock? can someone post a picture how this one really looks. I believe this is not available from BMW anymore.
I dont want to use a rigid mount I could fabricate as in case of some more substantial crash at any speed there might be damage to the engine block.
Do you have a picture on your hand somewhere?
Best regards

Sorry. I just made a photo of what I have. I have 4 of these.
Issue is how do I attach the top of the crashbar to the engine.
In k1100 I remember there was a nut deeep inside the top of the bar so I am guessing there must have been a bolt sticking out.

You need to replace the front frame-engine bolts with bolts like this:

The rubber dampers screw into those.

Thanks mate. Will try to cook something like this.
Worst thing is that to fit the silentblock left/rear the silencer needs to go out. I have nothing but bad experience with touching old header studs /:

Are these frame anchor/bolts available from McMaster Carr - or are these proprietary and hard to source?
