My 1992 K75 RT horn sounds weird to me.   I never really noticed it was weird, it is just really nice and loud.  At least I thought it was loud.

Turns out the horns (two of them) are mounted inside the nose of the fairing on either side of the headlight.  They are pointed forward, kind-of into the convex parabolic reflector shape of the inside of the fairing.  They are insanely loud - to me the rider - because the sound bounces off the inside of the fairing and is directed right at me.  My riding buddy tells me the horn sounds really wimpy, like a Mr. Bean wimpy.

Why did I beep my horn at my riding buddy?  I'm still learning the art of BMW riding, and figuring out the difference between cancelling a turn signal and startling the crap out of myself with the horn.  I'm a slow learner.

At any rate, the way the horns are mounted is kind of ineffective.

There are two "nostril" openings under the nose of the fairing of my K75.  You can only see those down-facing nostril openings if you bend down real low and look up underneath the nose of the fairing.  Has anyone tried to relocate those horns so their noise is projected out of those "nostril" openings instead of inside the fairing and then back at the rider?

FYI: From the factory they are pointed down.

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.
