Bmw Diagnosis What Software
« on: August 04, 2024, 06:27:58 AM »
Years ago I downloaded a program for diagnosing our motorcycles.
It is called K-Diag, made by a guy named Six1.
The thing is that although there is information on how to make the connector I do not understand it.

does anyone know this software?

On the other hand I am sure that there may be more current and complete alternatives.

What do you use for complete diagnostics on K and R models pre 2005?

Thanks

Can't say as I have heard of it, though the user name does sound familiar.

Dunno about R models but there are service manuals and bulletins on this forum, plus the searching option. If you're having problems diagnosing a problem, I recon it's a safe bet that posting it on this forum will bring you to the solution.

This forum is a great big diagnostic machine.

You were unable to post your photo so this is all I could find. KDIAG Is an automotive diagnostic scanner still made in China. There seems to be no three-pin adaptor made for the 16V classic Bricks' diagnostic plugs.

I don't think that KDiag OBDII scan tool will read the codes from the Motronic on classic bricks.  It's designed to interface the codes of a post 95 OBDII system on automobiles to a phone or laptop.  The classic K Motronic systems don't have the codes it works with.  As far as I can tell they only work off of output pulses.

You're correct about OBDII, of course, but that is all KDiag seems to offer. Maybe this one will work, the ad says it will, anyway.  :laughing4-giggles: Maybe the "Legacy" program cited is what Alex downloaded long ago.

If you are troubleshooting a 16 valve Brick the only useful diagnostic tools are a 12volt LED and the instrument cluster.  That fancy doodad is just $119 of wasted cash.  It will not do anything that you can't do with an LED, a wire, and the high temperature idiot light in the cluster.

With those simple tools you can:
-read and clear ABS fault codes
-read and clear Motronic fault codes
-set the throttle position sensor zero

On the 16 valve Bricks, these are the only functions available through the three pin diagnostic connector.

That's disappointing.  It seems like it could have been built to diffuse a concoction of Marvel Mystery Oil, Techron, and DeoxitD5 to all troubled areas. 177381

Not to mention a wee bit of Molybdenum to the various splines

NayoAlex could you have another go at loading that attachment?

Your brick is a two valve model so an LE jetronic. There are diagnosing tools for them as well, and manuals to describe them and how to diagnose with them, at the service bulletins section.
