Aftermarket Headlight, Driving & Aux Lights
« on: July 29, 2024, 05:11:47 PM »
Hey y'all, been posting quite a bit here. A few things about lighting.

I'd like to get it a bit more up to modern standards in terms of illumination. I have an LED bulb I can plug into my current housing, but I've found they don't work as well as I hoped. With that in mind, I want to first install some AUX driving lights, and then update the main headlight.

Can you guys recommend some front-mounted driving lights and wiring diagrams for your mods?

What I plan to do as an FYI:
  • I was thinking of mounting some amber Hella Halogen driving lights on the crash guards. I've also seen some ovular fork-mounted light installations that work well, but I'm not a fan of the ovular look, I like to stick with the square brick theme.
  • I have an extra dash rocker switch from a donor bike, and I planned to wire that up to this aux lighting method.
  • Once that's done, I wanted to update the square headlight to a dual-headlight setup (one hi beam, one low beam). It's ambitious, but it's what I want to do.

Below is a pic of an inspired bike I found on FB for the main headlight setup. The owner recommended using a pigtail to the second light, and modify the light housing mounting bracket (of which I have an extra). Is it really that easy?

EDITED for clarity.
