Hi, I recently got my hands on a 1995 BMW K75RT and need to rebuild the front calipers.  I have been looking at various sources on the internet and a CLYMER Manual.  Removal of the left caliper is straightforward and this is off an ready to be rebuilt.  I am struggling a bit with the right caliper as it appears that one needs to remove the ABS Sensor.  I can get a Torx bit on the more exposed hex bolt, but the other is more hidden.

Would anyone have so guidance in terms of removing the ABS Sensor so I can rebuild the caliper.

Also is it possible to spilt the caliper and do the rebuild that way without removing the ABS Sensor.

Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Have you removed the right-side caliper with the sensor attached?

Yes, the sensor is still attached, but the caliper assembly with attached ABS sensor wire are supported with a bungee cord, while the brake line and the feed pipe between the right and left are detached from the caliper.  I didn't want to force things.  Will see if I can split the caliper and use the kit while it is on the bike.

I suggest you decouple that sensor sensor wire. Rehabilitating the caliper on a clean, level, stable surface will improve chances of a successful outcome if you intend to split the caliper. If it were my job, I'd try to find the wire connector, but I'm a by-the-book drudge and rarely in a hurry when working with machinery.

As I recall, the connector is under the tank on the left side.

Thanks!  I managed to get the calipers rebuilt.  I rebuilt the right one without disconnecting the abs sensor wire.  Flushed the brake fluid starting at the ABS unit and then the front calipers.

You need either a longer T25 bit or a T25 driver to get the sensor off.

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.
