SOLD: 1992 BMW K75S ABS
« on: April 04, 2023, 06:59:20 PM »
$3300, located in Austin, Texas.

For sale is my 1992 BMW K75S ABS with 29,000 miles. The BMW K series bikes are the first production motorcycles with antilock brakes. This is one of those motorcycles.

Please contact me via the email icon below my profile name <---to the left on this thread (and post to this thread if you don't get a reply).

SUMMARY:
1. everything works, including the ABS
2. it's ready to ride and needs no work
3. the Texas title is a clear and in my name, ready to transfer
4. the tires have 3000 miles on them, are four years old, tubless radials, and still have a lot of life in them
5. everything you would want upgraded in an older motorcycle has been renewed or upgraded
6. this bike has never been crashed, wrecked, or damaged

This is a great motorcycle for someone who wants a smaller, lighter sport touring motorcycle. If you are struggling with the newer, larger sport touring bikes, this might be a good fit for you. This is also a real classic, reliable early K bike. It's ready to go--needs no work.

I’m a mechanic, working both on motorcycles and cars, and this has been my personal bike for the past few years. I’ve loved it.

I bought this bike in 2019 and upgraded everything. New tires, new brake rotors and pads, new front progressive springs, new rear shock, new bushings throughout the frame, new front wheel bearings, conversion to LED lights, brake light modulator, and some additional things, like a USB port up near the handlebars for recharging a phone on long trips. Also, I put BMW heated grips on it. I changed the steering bearings and had the ABS brain sent to Japan to have its logic board rebuilt and reflashed (there’s a guy in Japan who specializes in that stuff). I rebuilt the locks on the bags to accept the ignition key, so everything is on one key. A few repair manuals are included in the sale. All the original manuals are included, along with my repair log.

The 1992 K75s came with a smaller alternator and later models had an upgraded alternator. I upgraded the alternator on this bike to the larger model, which also requires a different coolant expansion tank, which I got from Germany. The battery was replaced in 2022.

The windscreen has a laminar lip installed, which reduces the sharp cutoff of the wind blast at high speeds.

In January this motorcycle completed a 1100 mile trip from Austin to Bracketville (near Del Rio) to Big Bend Chisos Basin, to Fort Davis, and back to Austin. No problems. Those heated grips were a great help when leaving Fort Davis, where it was 23 degrees that morning! The ride was a combination of slower US highways and a few stints on I-10 at 85MPH, all no problem.

The Texas title is in my name and it’s a clean blue title.

The price considers its condition, low mileage, and improvements. This motorcycle is dead simple and reliable. A true flying brick, and a classic BMW. Not a project bike. It’s the first bike I’ve traveled with where I don’t carry spare parts!

I am not interested in trades. Shipping is not included.  Cash is preferred, but I can also split things up between cash, Venmo, PayPal, and credit card.

If the ad is still up, it's still available. Thanks for your inquiries.
