Just floating an idea..
« on: January 11, 2023, 01:22:20 PM »
Thinking about selling my one owner 37 yr old K75s, warts and all.  Prolly only ran a couple tanks of gas through it last year, with my bad knees and advancing age a 500lb two wheeler just doesn't do it for me anymore.  Besides, I need the room for bicycles (my obsession since retiring) and the somewhat trusty Ural.  Lots of good stuff (euro headlight switch, new rotors, K&N conversion, and lots of nearly worn out stuff.  Newish Clutch, transmission bearings and forks, splines hanging on by the skin of their teeth.  Rideable but front tire sidewalls cracking.  Thinking $800, I'd almost rather part it out but that's a pain.

I got really mixed feelings, but it's either sell or let it molder away in a corner so selling is probably better.  Like I say, it's not without flaws.

They're not flaws, they're patina.  Witness to a long life well lived, and a lot of miles.

What the heck, it's drivable, solid engine and tranny, dry rotted front tire and leaky rear master.  I figure $800 if anyone's interested, that's probably close to what I could for parts.  It's had a good long life, time to move on.

I know exactly how you feel. After a year or two of soul-searching and a military style decision brief I decided to sell my 85 K100RS. I was the 2nd owner, mine since 1988 it had just 400 miles on it! I rode it hard, several cross countries, a 4-corners ride and many trips up and down the east coast. It had nearly 300,000 miles on it when I let it go, never let me down. Aside from wear and tear items I never experienced a major component failure. I sold it plus a trailer full of parts that one seems to collect "just in case" to a young lad who is, as we speak, converting it to a cafe racer. Perhaps it sits in the barn where I delivered it.
Age, riding position, bad knees, etc, etc, kept me off the RS and my LT became ride of choice.
Bicycles have become my new obsession as well! Mt biking in particular which has led to more injuries than I ever received from riding the RS!
go figure.
Make the tough decision, let 'er go.
