K75S thermostat gasket
« on: October 20, 2022, 08:27:26 PM »
Hi, is there a way to get just the gasket for the thermostat? My searches have shown no part number and even Euro Moto Electrics says a new thermostat comes with the gasket installed.

17 11 1 460 718 is the number for a "thermostat O ring," but that turns out to be the O ring for the thermostat cover.

I'd rather not purchase a whole thermostat just to replace the gasket. Unless that's just what's done. Is it ill-advised to reuse a thermostat if the gasket was dry and crusty?

That's just what's done. (Stupid not to have it as a separate part.)

How bad is it? Torn up or just old. If just old then you could try Armor All or 303 to revive it.

Several people have tried to find another third party gasket to fit but I've never heard of success.

I wouldn't run without that gasket but that's just me.

Motobins sells the thermostat for $44 plus shipping so that might be the best price.

Thanks. It's gone. Hard enough that it crumbled when I rubbed it to check. Guess I'm getting a new thermostat.

There is a thermostat for a Toyota that is a replacement for the one in the K engine.

Those thermostats are about half the price of the "official" units.  You might be able to get one from RockAuto and take the gasket off of it to use in your engine.

I also see that there is a gasket available for the Stant 45758 thermostat that has been mentioned as a direct replacement.  The part number for that gasket is Stant 27280 Thermostat Seal.

I tried the Toyota thermostat once in my K75 and it fit without the supplied gasket but not with it.  The gasket was slightly too thick.  The fix could be to reduce the diameter of the thermostat by a slight amount to accommodate the extra thickness.
