Hi from Paris, France
« on: July 17, 2021, 11:23:23 AM »
I've been the happy owner of a K75RT since Xmas 2020. After 15 years without a bike - owned a R1100R in the early 2000s, followed by a R1150RT - I've been itching to ride again. Covid and a longer out of the city commute did the rest.

There's a pretty active K scene here but since I speak english, I came across this board many times when researching specifics. So why not register hey? I like old german machines - my K is a 1988, it's the most recent of my vehicles except the bicycles... But I like to tinker with them and bring them into the 21st century. And curiosity led me to the Megasquirt threads here...

My bike started its life as a S but was converted at some stage into a RT. Usually it's the other way round with poor RTs being gutted into Cafe Racers... Previous owner is a brit dude living in the north of France, and he did quite a few things to improve the bike (progressive springs in the fork, K100 shaft, grease nipple on the stands, clutch arm etc). I added a K1100LT electric windshield, with controls on the handlebar (1100RT switch) and swapped the rear shock for a Shock Factory one.

On the photo it still has the "admin" single seat I used until recently as my wife finally agreed to take a ride:

 :welcome

Sounds like that K has had an interesting life of upgrades. Looks to be in good shape from the picture.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Thanks guys!
Yep it's in pretty good condition, the previous owners took good care of it. The last one especially. As you can see from the photo, he also installed rubber boots on the fork to protect it and have the seals last longer. Also, when I changed the plugs, I realized he had put Iridium NGKs (at $20 a plug...), and when I drained the oil, the filter had been marked with date and mileage. All things that told me he did good to the bike. Honestly, if he hadn't lost balance the summer before, whilst maneuvering on gravel, he probably would have kept it. But getting closer to 70, it was the sign that made him give up on this heavy bike and stick to his other love: a Yamaha 500XT.
